International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised The Selective European Transportation Equipment Fund (SETEF) – a private equity infrastructure vehicle focused on environmentally aligned freight transportation assets across Europe – (the “Fund”) on its €90 million funding package.
The fund’s financing package has been secured from Germany-headquartered banks Helaba and KfW IPEX-Bank.
The financing will support the fund’s ongoing investment strategy, including the acquisition, re-financing, and optimisation of transportation equipment across Europe. The transaction involved a complex cross border security package over rolling stock and related rights in multiple European jurisdictions.
The Simmons & Simmons team was led by partner Kate Curneen (Ireland), supported by a highly experienced European team spanning Ireland, Germany, France, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
Commenting on the transaction, Kate Curneen said: “We congratulate SETEF on this transaction, which underpins the continued expansion of its rail leasing activities across key European markets. This transaction is a strong example of Simmons & Simmons’ cross-jurisdictional, specialist sector team delivering a successful outcome for our client that will support the development of sustainable transport infrastructure across Europe.”
