Advising Genmab on $3.9bn oncology collaboration

The collaboration combines Genmab’s discovery and development expertise and next-generation bispecific antibody therapeutic candidates with AbbVie’s expertise.

Simmons has advised Genmab A/S, an international biotechnology company, on a collaboration with AbbVie jointly to develop and commercialise three of Genmab’s investigational bispecific antibody product candidates and enter into a discovery research collaboration for future differentiated antibody therapeutics for cancer.

The companies will partner to develop Genmab’s next-generation bispecific antibody programmes, epcoritamab (DuoBody®-CD3xCD20), DuoHexaBody®-CD37 and DuoBody-CD3x5T4. The collaboration combines Genmab’s discovery and development expertise and next-generation bispecific antibody therapeutic candidates with AbbVie’s clinical and commercial expertise.

The Simmons team was led by Managing Associate Lydia Torne, supported by intellectual property colleagues Nicola Walles and Luke Norton, Charles Mayo (Senior Adviser, Corporate & Commercial), and competition law colleagues Charles Bankes (Partner) and David Trapp, of Simmons, and by Satoru Nagasaka, Koichiro Hanamoto and Yohsuke Higuchi of TMI Associates in Tokyo.
