Our contentious and non contentious insurance team specialises in advising on cross-border regulation and conduct of general insurance and life assurance business, policy wordings and complex forms of risk transfer, and cross-border litigation and arbitration of insurance and reinsurance disputes.
In the non contentious arena the group advises national and international insurance companies on corporate transactions, EU legislation and structural issues such as capital, derivatives and reorganisations as well as on the dynamics of the move to the FSA risk based regulation of companies.
Problem solving and innovation for these types of insurance financial clients often requires a multi disciplinary approach with lawyers drawn from banking, finance and capital markets as well as the insurance sector. Our insurance practice forms part of the firm's financial group reflecting the convergence of the banking and insurance and reinsurance markets, and their regulation. Our lawyers have the insurance, finance, regulatory and litigation skills to advise on complex insurance transactions, litigation and regulatory investigations.
The team has a good working relationship with the Financial Services Authority (the regulator for the Financial Markets) and also the rating agencies.
