David specialises in intellectual property matters, with particular expertise in branding issues including trade marks, copyright and registered and unregistered designs. Over the years, David has worked with large and small clients in a diverse range of industries, including FMCGs, fashion, life sciences, agriculture and heavy industry, TMT and the arts. David is also a recognised expert in relation to Olympic-related IP issues.
A solicitor advocate, David has the benefit of in-house experience, having represented The Coca-Cola Company as trademark counsel for Western Europe in 2003-2005. David received a special commendation from the WORLDLeaders: European IP Awards for his work with The Coca-Cola Company.

Legal 500 2009 recommends David for his "cutting-edge advice" and for giving "superb client service". Legal 500 2008 noted "he's the first person I go to in complex legal matters". David is also listed in The Guide to the World’s Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners, The International Who’s Who of Trademark Lawyers and has been recognised by readers of Trademark World as an IP Luminary.
A graduate of the universities of Sydney, Oxford and Cambridge, David writes and lectures extensively on intellectual property issues. At the invitation of the European Commission, David has travelled to Bucharest to train Romanian judges in IP law. David has authored numerous articles on intellectual property issues, particularly in relation to design protection, for legal journals such as the Oxford Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice. David is also a domain name dispute arbitrator for the World Intellectual Property Organization, and was recently appointed a Notary Public by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
David is an elected counsellor of the Association of European Trade Mark Owners (MARQUES) and chairs the Designs Team. He is also an active member the Pharmaceutical Trade Mark Group (PTMG) and a committee member of the International Trademark Association (INTA).
