  • advising on the formation and subsequent public acquisition of the virt-x pan-European stock exchange by the Swiss Stock Exchange
  • advising on the London listing and subsequent “take private” acquisition of The Peachtree Group, the US speciality finance provider
  • advising the multi award-winning “Accelerated IPO” of Northumbrian Water (the awards for which included the “Legal Business” and “The Lawyer” awards for Legal Team of the Year).

General Experience

Tim is the firm's regional head in the Middle East and leads the Simmons & Simmons corporate practice in Abu Dhabi.  He specialises in major transactions advising Government bodies, stock exchanges, financial institutions, companies and management on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, public and private equity, fundraisings and securities regulation. 

Significant other transactions have included advising Inbev on the simultaneous acquisition of the brewing divisions of Bass and Whitbread (£2.3bn), Wal-Mart on its acquisition of Asda (£6.7bn), OFGEM on the restructuring and demerger of British Gas (£13bn), PCCW on its acquisition of Hong Kong Telecom (£26bn), British Land on its securitisation of London’s Broadgate financial district (£1.1bn) and numerous IPO and Accelerated IPO mandates.

Tim is named as a leading lawyer for international corporate matters, is regularly published and lectures internationally to the business community and law professionals on corporate law and securities regulation.
