In 1992 Simmons & Simmons became the first City law firm to establish a presence in Portugal. The Madeira office* was opened in response to client demand and its principal clients are financial institutions and multinational corporations. This office has seen significant and rapid development and provides services to domestic clients, as well as to clients who use the Madeira International Business Centre. The office also has an associated management company, which offers offshore consultancy services to international companies.
