In 1992, Simmons & Simmons became the first City law firm to establish a presence in Portugal. The Portuguese practice has expanded significantly over the past few years and is now one of the largest and most highly respected law firms in Portugal, with offices in Lisbon and Funchal (Madeira). We have an association with Andreia Lima Carneiro & Associados in Oporto. 

Our Portuguese and English lawyers advise clients on all aspects of domestic and international legal matters, with particular expertise in relation to commercial, construction, corporate, dispute resolution, environment, energy, EU & competition, employment, finance, pharmaceuticals & biotechnology, projects, real estate, shipping, tax, TMT and transportation law.

We work closely with our international network, which comprises a team of around 2000 staff, including over 1000 legal professionals. Our clients benefit from our position in the Portuguese market and have access to our international network.

In 2001, Simmons & Simmons established an association with Veirano Advogados (a Brazilian law firm with approximately 300 legal professionals in 8 cities in Brazil).  This extends our network to Latin America and in particular Brazil.
