The London Legal Support Trust was launched in April 2004 by Lord Woolf and Cherie Blair. It raises funds primarily from lawyers in the City and uses those funds to support free legal advice agencies in and around London. The trust has raised over £1m to date.
Richard Dyton, partner in our projects group, was a founding trustee and is now chairman of the trust. Simmons & Simmons also provided the trust's first grant of £3,000 to get it started.
The best known of the trust’s fundraising activities is the annual sponsored walk led by the Lord Chief Justice, the Master of the Rolls and the presidents of the Law Society, Bar Council and ILEX. This year 25 of our people were among the 4,000 walkers who raised £360,000.
