Advocates for International Development (A4ID)

Simmons & Simmons has been heavily involved with A4ID since its inception in the aftermath of the Asian tsunami.

Initially a lawyer from our London office provided advice in relation to its structure and incorporation as a not for profit company, as well as its application for charitable status. A lawyer from our Rotterdam office was subsequently seconded to A4ID to act as coordinator of both the executive committee and advisory panel.

Lawyers from the firm’s London, Dutch and Paris offices have undertaken many projects for development NGOs and international non-profit organisations, which were referred by A4ID. For example, a team of four lawyers has worked on a project for Five Talents UK, a growing microfinance charity, providing advice on a wide range of issues including methods of fundraising and international infrastructure.
