Open for business in Dublin

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has officially opened for business in Dublin, reinforcing its position as leading adviser in the asset management and investment funds sector. The opening follows recent news of the appointments of Fionán Breathnach, who will lead the Dublin office, and two additional partners, Elaine Keane and Niamh Ryan.

Fionán, joined the firm in March 2018 from Mason Hayes & Curran where he was head of the investment funds and financial regulatory practice. He brings 23 years’ experience in the financial services industry in Ireland, with a strong focus on the Investment Funds sector.

His extensive experience, leading the investment funds and financial regulation practice at his previous firm highlights, his skillset and suitability to lead the Dublin office at this crucial time.

The office is expected to welcome ten partners and around 40 people in total over the next three years.

Niamh Ryan and Elaine Keane will be joining the firm from A&L Goodbody in July 2018. Niamh was previously head of A&L Goodbody’s London office. Her practice primarily focuses on the establishment of regulated funds in Ireland and related regulatory advice.

With over 15 years’ experience, Elaine joined A&L Goodbody as partner in their asset management and investment funds group in 2013. Her practice covers the full spectrum of the advisory and regulatory aspects of the Irish funds industry.

Both Elaine and Niamh will work with Fionán to establish and grow the firm’s Irish office and, together with Colin Leaver (head of AMIF) and Richard Perry (head of financial services) in London, will develop a leading Irish investment funds and financial regulation practice, eventually also incorporating tax, capital markets banking and corporate expertise.
