Fred is a UK and European patent attorney in the Patent Prosecution group of Simmons & Simmons. He specialises in patents for chemical or mechanical subject matter, particularly with respect to medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
Fred has extensive experience in all aspects of patent prosecution and contentious matters before the European Patent Office (EPO). He regularly represents clients in opposition proceedings at the EPO in Munich and The Hague, with an excellent success rate. He has experience in obtaining Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) across Europe and has provided patent litigation support on several commercially important products.

- patent litigation support, including the successful defence of a pharmaceutical formulation patent before the Commercial Court of Barcelona.
Fred joined Simmons & Simmons in 2018 as part of the Patent Prosecution group.
Prior to joining Simmons & Simmons, Fred worked at a leading UK firm of patent attorneys. He has degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, Clare College, covering chemistry, mathematics, materials, physics, history and philosophy of science, and ultimately specialising in organic chemistry.
