Edward has wide experience of corporate transactions and specialises in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, both public and private, including equity issues and disposals. He advises listed and non-listed companies, financial institutions and hedge funds.

- advising Growthpoint Properties Limited, a South African REIT listed on the JSE, on its EUR186.4m subscription for 23,300,000 ordinary shares in AIM listed Globalworth Real Estate Investments Limited
- advising Kentz Corporation Limited on its acquisition by SNC Lavalin for approximately £1.164bn
- advising Secure Trust Bank Plc (STB) on its £50m equity fundraising and Arbuthnot Banking Group Plc on its sale of STB shares raising £25m
- advising MJ Gleeson Plc on its corporate re-organisation, including the listing of a new holding company.
After completing his training at major international law firm, Edward qualified as a solicitor in 1994. He was seconded for two years (1996 to 1998) as assistant secretary to the UK Panel on Takeovers and Mergers. Edward joined Simmons & Simmons as a partner in 2003.
Edward is a recommended lawyer in Legal 500 which comments "Expert coordinator" Edward Baker gives "practical, valuable advice," and has "fantastic knowledge of precedents." He is also a recommended lawyer in Chambers UK 2017 (where he has been continually ranked since 2008) which comments that "Sources highlight him as 'very easy to work with, commercial and client-focused'."
