The firm changes leadership in the Middle East
01 May 2019
International law firm Simmons & Simmons has today announced the appointment of a new regional head for the Middle East. Partner, David Risbridger will officially commence his new role on 1 May 2019.
David joined the firm in 2013 and has been leading the Construction and Dispute Resolution Group in the region throughout this time. In his new role, David will focus on the leadership of the region including implementing the firmwide business plan locally. David will take over from current regional head, Andrew Wingfield who is stepping down after seven years in the role and focusing on opportunities in Qatar.
Commenting on his new position, David Risbridger said: “I am looking forward to leading the Middle East offices into the next phase of our growth. There are exciting opportunities coming up in the region including Expo 2020, Saudi Vision 2030 and the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022. We will look to consolidate our position as a leading international law firm with a strong sector focus which allows us to provide clients with industry insights both locally and globally.”
Jeremy Hoyland, Managing Partner, stated: “David brings a wealth of regional experience to the role and I am looking forward to working closely with him as we continue to develop our practice in the Middle East. I would like to thank Andrew for leading the region for the last seven years. As one of only two international law firms to be granted a licence by the Qatar Ministry of Justice to operate independently in Qatar, and given our 15-year history in the market, Andrew will continue to focus on the significant opportunities to advise on inbound and outbound work from the country.”
