Real estate partner Deian Rhys has been ranked in the 2017 OUTstanding Leading LGBT+ Executives List, presented by the Financial Times. Deian is chair of the Simmons & Simmons International LGBT Network.
OUTstanding is an LGBT+ membership organisation for global businesses. It provides professional, peer‐to-peer connections for its members and helps businesses create diverse and inclusive work environments. To catalyse change, OUTstanding focuses on driving cultural change through authentic leadership.
All the 2017 leading role models were nominated by peers and colleagues. Each person was scored on the seniority and influence of their role, their impact on LGBT+ inclusion inside and outside the workplace and their business achievements.
Deian Rhys, commented, “I am delighted to have been included on this list for the second year alongside so many inspiring leaders. Simmons & Simmons continues to lead on LGBT inclusion in the legal sector and promoting equality across our network of offices remains an important priority for us. Over the past year we have focused on raising the profile of our international LGBT network to offer LGBT colleagues a more visible support structure and access to role models across the firm.”
Suki Sandhu, Founder & CEO, OUTstanding said, “These lists exist to challenge the assumption you cannot be out and successful in business, and to highlight the importance of role models in inspiring the next generation of business leaders. By recognising and celebrating those who are leading the charge, the lists demonstrate how far the quest for workplace equality has come. But there is always more to be done. Big business and the public sector have the power and influence to promote LGBT+ inclusion more widely, paving the way for real societal change around the world.”
