Annual results 2016/17: A year of sustained growth

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced its financial results for the year ending 30 April 2017.

In summary: 

  • Revenue: £316.1m up 7% from 2015/16
  • Net profit: up 12% from 2015/16
  • Average profit per equity partner: £635k up 9% from 2015/16
  • 28 new partners and 12 partner promotions

The results were driven by particularly strong activity from the employment and litigation international practice groups.

The firm has hired a number of high calibre partners in the past year (28), and promoted 12 to partnership, highlighting its commitment to its clients and its strategy of building on its strengths.

Reflecting on the year, Simmons & Simmons’ Managing Partner Jeremy Hoyland, said: ‘‘Our consistent focus on our clients, our sectors and our leading practice areas have been the key drivers for the results last year. We are pleased with the growth we have seen over the past year despite the economic uncertainty and political events. Our reputation for market leading expertise has seen us win a number of significant mandates for key clients including on their regulatory and Brexit-related projects”.

Simmons & Simmons continues to exploit new ways of delivering value to clients through its innovation agenda. Examples include award winning services such as Simmons & Simmons navigator, MiFID2 Manager and LaunchPlus. This year the firm launched a number of online resources which boost efficiency and value for its clients including: Netting + Collateral Reviewer, LaunchPlus: US to UK and LaunchPlus Hong Kong. LaunchPlus: Singapore will soon be available.
