Senior US partner to join capital markets practice in London

International law firm Simmons & Simmons is expanding its capital markets practice with the addition of US capital markets partner* Chris Walton who will be based in the corporate team in London.
Chris will join the firm on 01 September 2017 having previously been a partner at Clifford Chance in London for over 16 years. Chris advises on a wide range of equity and debt capital markets and other corporate finance transactions in the EMEA region. He has represented corporate issuers and selling securityholders in U.S. and international securities offerings as well as the major U.S. and international investment banking firms acting as underwriters in public and private offerings of equity and debt securities.
Chris has extensive experience with SEC-registered, Rule 144A and traditional private placement securities offerings. He also advises corporate and financial institution clients on an extensive range of US securities law matters, including in connection with merger and acquisition, debt restructuring, liability management and other transactions.

This follows on from the recent capital markets appointments of Jonathan Mellor joining from Allen & Overy and Simon Ovenden joining from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, which added to the firm’s strong existing equity capital markets and debt capital markets practices.
