Simmons & Simmons makes pro bono appointment
Simmons & Simmons has appointed Karen Ozdamar to the newly established role of pro bono manager. Her role will include managing the firm’s pro bono programme and leading the firm’s pro bono committee.
Karen was previously a corporate lawyer at Reed Smith LLP, and led the group’s associate pro bono function.
The appointment follows the launch of the firm’s Step Up in CR strategy in 2009. The strategy is designed to ‘step up’ firmwide involvement in Corporate Responsibility, which includes pro bono and community engagement, diversity and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Commenting on the appointment, pro bono partner Richard Dyton said: ‘‘We are committed to helping meet the legal needs of disadvantaged people in our communities, and having a dedicated pro bono manager with Karen’s professional experience, will help ensure we do this most effectively.’’
