Stephen is a litigator who specialises in handling complex, multi-faceted cases – those which involve overlapping fields of law (e.g. civil, criminal, regulatory), the interaction between law and other technical disciplines, multiple jurisdictions, and/or parallel proceedings.
Acting on these matters involves not only gathering and analysing complicated facts, and considering the different strategies available in legal proceedings, but also being able to understand the interplay between those points and the broader range of factors that affect the client’s position.
Stephen’s practice is invariably challenging – such as advising financial institutions on fraud cases and asset recovery, contractors on alleged corruption, manufacturers defending cartel claims, leasing companies on repossessing aircraft during operations, and investors on a range of shareholder disputes.
Having been a Partner for a number of years, in May 2019 Stephen chose to move into a Consultant role, so as to focus on front-line casework and make the most use of his wide-ranging technical expertise. Stephen also takes a keen interest in supporting junior colleagues in their career progression, and is responsible for the Litigation Department’s trainee solicitors.
