Sophie specialises in advising on retail financial services. She advises on product and business regulation, particularly relating to consumer laws, payment services and lending. She advises on new product development, regulatory change and compliance matters as well as contracts in the regulated space.
She works on the implementation of the payments, e-money, lending and consumer regulation as well as the design, launch and compliance of cross-border and domestic products. She drafts customer-facing and business-to-business documentation and advises on systems and processes implementation. She advises firms in the payments, e-money, lending and wealth businesses on their licensing and compliance requirements. She works with legal, compliance and commercial teams and at the interface between commercial and regulatory considerations when innovative new products are being designed. She advises on the digitisation of regulated products and the launch of novel products where regulation is central to design and contractual structures.
Sophie joined Simmons & Simmons in 2005 and has spent time on secondment to the legal and compliance teams of UK retail banks, global banks and fintech business, getting first-hand experience of launching new products, product compliance and managing regulatory risk. She has been named as “Associate to watch” by Chambers and Partners.
