Richard is a restructuring and insolvency lawyer, specialising in the transactional aspects of international and UK financial restructurings and insolvencies, as well as contingency planning and enforcement strategies.
He has extensive experience of acting for funders, investors, security trustees, debtors and insolvency practitioners on a wide range of distressed situations in UK, Europe and emerging markets around the world. These have ranged from some of the most significant international restructurings to complex private equity work-outs.

- acting for General Healthcare Group over a 3 year period, in its highly complex, successful £2bn+ restructuring. GHG is the landlord of the majority of BMI’s private hospitals
- advising the receivers of holding company shares in the NHP care homes / HC-One group on the negotiation and sale of the group
- acting for the super senior lender to a chain of leisure outlets in relation to the restructuring of facilities and subsequent enforcement by the unitranche funder
- advising numerous asset-based financiers on funding, intercreditor and recovery issues under various bilateral and club vehicle funding lines totalling approximately £1bn.
Richard joined the firm in 2013 as a partner in our restructuring and insolvency practice, after 7 years as a partner in another leading international restructuring practice.
Richard has previously spent 9 months seconded to the restructuring department of a major international bank.
He is a recommended lawyer in the 2012 edition of Legal 500.
