After completing his training at Simmons & Simmons, Mark qualified as a solicitor in 1990 and became a partner in 1998. He became head of corporate in December 2006, led the international corporate practice from 2008 and became Head of the firm’s corporate and commercial practice group in May 2011.
Mark was seconded for two years (from 1998 to 2000) as joint secretary to the UK Panel on Takeovers and Mergers and has subsequently acted as secretary to the hearings committee of the Panel and Takeover Appeal Board. Following his secondment, Mark developed Simmons & Simmons' Takeover Code Resources, a selection of online tools for those engaged in UK public takeovers.
Mark’s public deals expertise is acknowledged in the legal directories where he is described as "spearheading advice on corporate finance and M&A matters" and as having superb expertise in M&A and transactional matters. He is also described as "a leading practitioner" in the PLC Cross-border Life Sciences Handbook.
