Darren is head of the international corporate tax group. Darren advises on a wide range of tax issues, with a focus on clients in the Financial Institutions, Asset Management and Investment Funds sectors. He has extensive experience in the corporate and individual tax issues which arise for such clients. He has also acted for clients on a number of tax and VAT litigation matters.

- advising a number of investment bank and asset management clients on the application of the disguised investment management fee rules to their carried interest and other remuneration arrangements
- advising a number of asset management clients structured as LLPs on the application of the salaried member rules and mixed membership rules
- advising a number of major investment banks on private equity and real estate fund structures.
Darren is a member of the Law Society’s Tax Law Income Tax Sub Committee and a member of the City of London Law Society Tax Law Committee.
He qualified as a solicitor at Simmons & Simmons in 2001 and became a partner in 2010. He undertook a three month secondment to the tax department of a major investment bank in February 2014.
Darren was named in the Tax Journal’s "40 under 40", a guide to leading tax professionals, in November 2012.
